How to use the countdown timer
- Pick a duration with the number inputs (hours, minutes, seconds) or tap a quick preset.
- Press Start. The timer ticks down with a large, readable display.
- Use Pause / Resume any time, and Reset to restart.
- When the timer reaches zero you get both an in-page alert and an optional sound, toggled with the sound switch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I set a timer for hours?
Yes - hours, minutes and seconds are all adjustable to whatever values you need, up to 99:59:59.
Why did I not hear a sound?
Browsers only allow sound after an interaction with the page. Press Start (or click anywhere) once, then the alarm will ring on subsequent timers. Also check the sound toggle is on and volume is up.
Does the timer keep going in another tab?
The remaining seconds are computed from real time, so even a throttled background tab reports the correct remaining duration when you return.
Can I reuse the same timer?
Yes - Reset returns to the configured duration, and the input duration can be edited and re-run as often as you like.
Is there a full-screen mode?
The page has a fullscreen toggle, which makes the timer display ideal for classrooms, kitchens or exercise sessions.
Will the alarm sound if my device is on silent mode?
The browser generates audio tones through the Web Audio API, which depends on your device master volume and unmuted browser tab state.
Can I pause and resume the countdown?
Yes. You can pause the countdown at any point and resume without losing elapsed seconds.
Does the timer support preset intervals like Pomodoro?
Yes, you can configure common preset durations such as 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 25 minutes with a single click.
